Chapter 7 - The Vow of Vengeance

Ethan slowly stood up from the marble floor.
The heartbroken, desperate husband completely vanished. In his place stood the apex predator of the Chicago underworld. His dark eyes were pitch black, radiating an apocalyptic, terrifying rage that made the armed guards at the end of the hall physically step backward.
He didn't scream. He didn't throw a tantrum. He reached out and gently, reverently pulled Grace against his chest, wrapping his massive, tattooed arms protectively around her and their unborn child.
"You are never touching a spray bottle again," Ethan whispered into her hair, his voice vibrating with absolute, unbreakable devotion.
Meredith, sensing the lethal shift in the air, tried to quietly slip away toward the elevators.
"Guards," Ethan commanded, not even looking back. "Escort Meredith out of my hotel. And lock down the building."
The massive men immediately grabbed the elegant woman, dragging her away as she protested in vain.
Ethan pulled his encrypted phone from his tailored black trousers. He dialed a single number. The line picked up immediately.
