Chapter 5 - The Cruel Fiancée

Later that afternoon, Fay was in the massive, industrial kitchen of the mansion, quietly washing the dishes.
The heavy swinging doors suddenly burst open.
Stepping into the kitchen was Vanessa. The thirty-something socialite was Dominic’s fiancée, a stunning, arrogant woman draped in expensive designer silk and massive diamonds. She had been conveniently "traveling in Europe" for the last three months, entirely abandoning Dominic the second he was paralyzed, only returning now because she needed to secure her access to his massive offshore bank accounts.
Vanessa marched directly up to Fay, her perfectly contoured face twisted into a mask of pure, toxic disgust.
"Pack your bags," Vanessa demanded sharply, her voice echoing off the stainless steel counters. "You are fired. Get out of my house."
Fay didn't flinch. She calmly turned off the faucet and dried her hands on a towel. "I take my orders directly from Mr. Moretti, ma'am."
"Mr. Moretti is a cripple who doesn't know what's good for him!" Vanessa shrieked, completely losing her high-society composure. "I heard what happened this morning! You touched him! You are a filthy little peasant, and I will not have you manipulating a vulnerable man to steal my inheritance!"
Vanessa aggressively raised her manicured hand, fully intending to slap the young maid across the face.
She never made contact.

👉 Vanessa spun around, expecting to see a bodyguard, but she was entirely unprepared for who was actually holding her arm.
