Chapter 9 - The Promotion

Fay stared at the glowing screen of her phone.

It wasn't a transfer for eighty thousand dollars. It was a direct, untraceable wire transfer for five million dollars.

"Mr. Moretti... this... this is a mistake," Fay stammered, her voice shaking violently as she looked up at the mafia boss. "This is five million dollars."

"It's not a mistake," Dominic stated, the absolute power of his massive wealth backing every single syllable. "You don't just get the surgery. You get the best private specialist in the country. You get a house in a safe neighborhood. You get absolute financial freedom."

Fay couldn't breathe. Tears of pure, overwhelming joy finally spilled down her cheeks. "Why are you doing this?"

"Because you didn't look at me like a cripple," Dominic whispered, his deep voice thick with profound, genuine respect. "You looked at me like a man. And that kind of courage is impossible to buy."

Dominic turned his wheelchair slightly, looking toward the swinging kitchen doors.

"You are no longer a maid in this house, Fay," Dominic vowed smoothly. "You don't scrub floors, and you don't clean up broken plates. As of this exact second, you are the Head Estate Manager. You answer to absolutely no one but me."

Fay gasped softly, covering her mouth with her hand. She bowed her head respectfully. "Thank you, Mr. Moretti. Thank you so much."
