Chapter 6 - The Guest of Honor

The high-society guests, completely oblivious to the lethal cartel war unfolding right in front of their eyes, offered a polite, enthusiastic round of applause.

Dante kept his warm smile plastered on his face, but his eyes were entirely dead.

"However," Dante continued, his voice projecting clearly over the clapping. "I cannot take the honor of opening this alone. Marcus, my brother. Come to the front. You should be the one to untie the ribbon."

All the color violently drained from Marcus’s face. He physically staggered backward, bumping into a waiter holding a tray of champagne.

He knew exactly what was attached to the dark red ribbon. If he pulled it, the silver micro-detonator would trigger the block of C4 hidden inside the lacquered wood, instantly vaporizing him.

"Dante... no, I couldn't," Marcus stammered, his voice cracking with sheer, unadulterated terror. He was sweating so profusely it was dripping onto his expensive silk tie. "It’s... it’s your anniversary. You should open it."

"I insist," Dante replied. His voice dropped the friendly tone entirely, morphing into a dark, demonic command. "Come here. Now."

The elite guests finally began to notice the strange, heavy tension. The clapping slowly died out.

Marcus had absolutely no choice. Two of Dante’s massive bodyguards stepped up right behind him, their hands resting menacingly on the small of his back. They forcefully escorted the trembling, hyperventilating traitor across the marble floor.

👉 Marcus was forced to stand directly in front of the deadly box, and Dante was about to reveal exactly how much he knew.
