Chapter 11 - Everett Had Not Planned the Explosion

That distinction mattered most.

Everett did not plant a bomb.

Did not knowingly send soldiers into an ambush.

Investigators found no evidence he expected an attack.

Red Hollow became deadly because hostile actors targeted the convoy.

The cover-up came afterward.

That made Everett’s conduct less cinematic—

and more believable.

He had authorized a rushed movement he should not have approved.

People died.

A serious investigation could expose his procedural violations and Meridian’s unauthorized cargo handling.

So he panicked.

The first altered document was meant to distance himself from the contractor decision.

Then one change required another.

Roster removed.

Signature forged.

Mission description rewritten.

Investigative scope narrowed.

By the time Cassidy started asking questions, Everett was no longer protecting one mistake.
