It built specialized communications and electronic-monitoring equipment.
Legitimate company.
Legitimate defense contracts.
But at the time of Red Hollow, one of its regional subcontracting arrangements had already drawn scrutiny over billing irregularities and unauthorized movement of prototype equipment.
Cassidy discovered that months later through records obtained during a formal benefits appeal involving one of the injured soldiers.
Meridian had needed the hardware relocated quickly.
The normal movement authorization would have taken longer.
Someone accelerated it.
Everett approved the operational support.
But he lacked authority to make certain changes alone.
That was where General Whitmore’s supposed signature became useful.
A general’s authorization solved several questions.
