The review took months.
Not days.
That mattered to Cassidy.
No magical overnight justice.
Personnel systems had to be corrected.
Investigative findings reviewed.
Awards reconsidered.
Mission records amended.
Contractor actions referred separately.
Eventually Luke Mercer and Sergeant Adam Price were restored to the official Red Hollow mission roster.
So were Cassidy and the other injured personnel.
Their records finally reflected what happened.
Luke’s mother received the corrected documentation in a thick envelope.
She called Cassidy.
For several seconds neither woman spoke.
Then Patricia said:
“It says he was there.”
Cassidy closed her eyes.
“Yes.”
“It finally says he was there.”
That was all she had wanted.
Not a bigger medal.
Not money.
Truth.
