Chapter 3 - The Cruel Trap

Lieutenant Wyler’s sharp blue eyes scanned Sarah’s sand-covered boots and tactical vest. Because she wasn't wearing a crisp, formal dress uniform covered in shiny medals, his arrogant brain immediately assumed she was just a low-ranking grunt.

He gripped the black wireless microphone, a smug, triumphant smile spreading across his flawless face. He was absolutely delighted to embarrass this woman in front of her weeping son.

Sarah stopped in the dead center of the polished basketball floor. She immediately looked at Matty and saw her sweet, sensitive son crying into his hands. Her piercing blue-gray eyes instantly shifted toward the lieutenant. Her determined facial features hardened into an expression of cold, terrifying, and absolute control.

At the neighboring demonstration table, Chief Hayes suddenly straightened his broad shoulders, completely recognizing the beautiful woman in the tactical vest.

Lieutenant Wyler confidently extended the microphone toward Sarah, ensuring the entire gymnasium of three hundred students was listening.

"Your son told everyone you're a Navy SEAL," Wyler mocked loudly, his condescending voice dripping with toxic arrogance. "Why don't you tell these students the truth?"

Sarah stood perfectly upright. She didn't scream. She didn't lunge at the man who had just made her son cry. Her hands rested calmly beside her heavy tactical vest as she faced the crowded gymnasium. Matty anxiously looked up through his tears, terrified of what was happening.

Sarah looked dead into the lieutenant’s eyes, her voice ringing out with firm, unwavering professional authority.
