Chapter 7 - The True Leader

Sarah didn't yell. She didn't need to raise her voice to command absolute, total obedience from the room.

She stepped forward in her heavy tactical vest, her sand-covered boots crunching softly against the polished basketball floor. She stopped directly in front of the trembling lieutenant, her piercing blue-gray eyes locking onto his terrified face with the cold, lethal composure of a woman who handled live bombs for a living.

"A true leader doesn't need to humiliate a child to make himself feel powerful, Lieutenant," Sarah stated, her professional, icy tone slicing through his pathetic excuses like a razor blade. "If you ever speak to my son, or any other child in this school, with that level of profound disrespect again, I will personally ensure your career ends permanently."

Wyler swallowed hard, completely shrinking under her authoritative gaze. He was utterly stripped of his arrogance, publicly exposed as a cowardly bully in front of three hundred students and his military peers.

Sarah completely ignored him. She turned her back on the pathetic officer and walked directly over to the metal folding chair.

She knelt down on the hardwood floor, entirely unbothered by her heavy tactical gear. She wrapped her arms tightly around Matty, pulling her weeping, sensitive son into a fierce, profoundly loving embrace.

"I'm so proud of you, Matty," Sarah whispered, kissing the top of his messy light-brown hair. "You never have to be ashamed of me."

👉 Wyler thought the nightmare was over, completely unaware that a senior commander had been watching from the shadows the entire time.
