Chapter 1 - The Manhattan Shock

The exclusive Manhattan restaurant was a breathtaking display of high-society wealth. Crystal chandeliers cast a warm, golden evening lighting over pristine white tablecloths. A jazz pianist played softly in the background, surrounded by the city's most elite, powerful guests.
But at a VIP table near the window, the elegant atmosphere was about to completely shatter.
Nolan, a man in his thirties wearing a dark suit with an unbuttoned white shirt, was laughing with his new fiancée, Vanessa. Vanessa, a glamorous blonde in her twenties wearing a tight red dress, was holding up her new diamond ring, completely ignoring the fact that it was bought with money Nolan had hidden from his divorce settlement.
Suddenly, Nolan froze.
The laugh died in his throat. He stared toward the heavy mahogany entrance doors, his face draining of all color, registering absolute, paralyzing shock.
Walking gracefully into the luxurious dining room was Emma.
She was Nolan’s ex-wife. She looked absolutely breathtaking, her long brunette hair cascading over her shoulders. She was very visibly pregnant, wearing an elegant, custom-tailored cream maternity gown with delicate cape sleeves. She wasn't the weeping, broken woman Nolan had abandoned six months ago. She radiated absolute power and glowing health.
But it wasn't just Emma that made Nolan’s heart stop beating.
Walking closely beside her, his hand resting protectively on the small of her back, was Graham.
Graham was a fiercely handsome man in his forties, wearing a sharp, flawless black tuxedo and a black tie. He wasn't just any wealthy man. He was the billionaire CEO of the massive venture capital firm where Nolan worked as a mid-level analyst. He was Nolan’s ultimate boss.
Vanessa turned her head to follow Nolan's terrified gaze. Her smug expression violently dropped into sheer disbelief.
"Oh," Vanessa breathed, her perfectly manicured hands trembling.
Emma walked past their table. She locked eyes with Nolan across the room. She didn't glare. She didn't look sad. She looked at him with perfect, calm, devastating indifference, and then simply looked away, letting the billionaire guide her to the most exclusive table in the restaurant.
A tight close-up captured Nolan tightly gripping the stem of his wineglass, his knuckles turning stark white, his face tense with bitter, uncontrollable jealousy.
