Chapter 10 - The Unbreakable Queen

Claire didn't flinch as the older woman screamed in her face.

She simply pulled a second piece of paper from her folder. It was the post-nuptial Non-Disclosure Agreement Diane had forced her to sign that very morning.

"Actually, Diane," Claire whispered softly, handing the paper to her lead attorney. "You drafted this NDA so broadly that it legally binds you and your son from ever discussing my business affairs with the press. If you tweet, speak, or leak a single word about my takeover, I will personally sue you for your remaining trust fund."

Diane’s mouth opened and closed in pure, suffocating horror. She was entirely trapped by her own toxic legal weapon.

"Security," Claire commanded without raising her voice.

Two massive, heavily armed guards stepped into the boardroom. They grabbed the weeping, completely broken CEO and his horrified mother by the arms.

"Oh, and Diane?" Claire added, taking a slow, elegant sip from the water glass on the table. "Vanguard Holdings owns the luxury penthouse you live in. You have exactly two hours to pack your designer coats before the locks are changed."

Ethan and Diane were forcefully dragged out of the glass boardroom, their humiliated, desperate screams echoing down the corporate hallway until the elevator doors slammed shut.

Claire sat alone at the head of the massive mahogany table. She didn't need a man to protect her future. She was the empire.

She calmly opened her laptop and got back to work.

If you were Claire, would you have warned Ethan about the SEC investigation, or was letting the feds drag him out of his house the absolute perfect revenge?
