Chapter 7 - The Emergency Board Meeting
At exactly 2:00 PM, Ethan was summoned to the glass-walled executive boardroom of his own company.
He sat at the head of the massive mahogany table, sweating through his custom black suit. Diane, who held a small percentage of legacy shares, sat beside him, looking furious. The rest of the board members sat in terrified silence.
They were waiting for the new majority shareholder—the anonymous CEO of Vanguard Holdings—to arrive and decide the fate of the company.
"When this proxy gets here, I am going to tear them apart," Ethan threatened loudly, trying to project a confidence he absolutely didn't feel. "I built this company! I will not be pushed out by some faceless corporate raider!"
"Show them who is boss, darling," Diane encouraged proudly.
The heavy glass doors of the boardroom suddenly swung open.
The room went completely, suffocatingly dead silent.
Four highly paid, terrifyingly professional corporate attorneys stepped into the room. They immediately parted down the middle, making way for the CEO.
Ethan’s heart completely stopped. The blood violently drained from his handsome face.
