Chapter 8 - The Crimson Reveal

Ethan physically staggered out of his leather chair, his jaw dropping open in absolute, earth-shattering disbelief.
"Claire?" Ethan stammered, his voice cracking into a high-pitched, pathetic squeak. "What are you doing here? Did you bring my dry cleaning? You can't be in here, this is a classified board meeting!"
Claire didn't even look at him.
She walked with a slow, powerful, cinematic grace directly to the head of the table. The lead corporate attorney firmly grabbed Ethan’s chair and violently yanked it away, forcing the arrogant CEO to stumble backward.
Claire sat down in Ethan's seat. She placed her black leather folder on the mahogany table and folded her hands, her brown eyes locking onto his panicked face.
"Good afternoon, gentlemen," Claire addressed the board, her voice dripping with lethal, undeniable authority. "I am Claire Callahan, CEO and Founder of Vanguard Holdings. And as of this morning, I own sixty-eight percent of this corporation."
Diane let out a horrified, high-pitched gasp, clutching her pearl necklace as if she were choking.
"That's impossible!" Ethan shrieked hysterically, completely losing his mind. "You're a freelance consultant! You live in a rented apartment! You don't have this kind of money!"

"I have four hundred million dollars, Ethan," Claire corrected softly, leaning back in her chair. "I just didn't want to share it with a narcissist."
👉 Ethan dropped to his knees to beg, but Claire was about to weaponize his own cruelty against him.
