Chapter 6 - The Financial Guillotine

"What?" Marcus stammered, sweating profusely in his expensive gray suit. "Boss, I swear to God, I haven't taken a dime!"

"While you were busy beating your wife half to death last night," Rhett explained coldly, taking a slow, predatory step forward, "my forensic accountants finally cracked the encrypted offshore accounts attached to the shipping manifests. You've been skimming millions from the syndicate for two years."

The cinematic realism of the absolute, crushing betrayal paralyzed the entire room.

Marcus hadn't just been abusing Isa; he had been actively stealing from the most dangerous man in Chicago, using his wealth and power to completely trap her in a violent marriage.

"Rhett, please! It's a misunderstanding!" Marcus shrieked, entirely abandoning his tough-guy persona. He dropped to his knees on the cheap linoleum floor.

Rhett pulled his encrypted smartphone from his black suit jacket.

"Initiate the complete liquidation of Marcus's personal and offshore assets," Rhett ordered his Chief Financial Officer, putting the phone on speaker.

"No! Please! I'll pay it back!" Marcus wailed hysterically, clawing at the air.

"Transfer every single stolen dollar into an irrevocable trust fund under Isa's maiden name," Rhett continued ruthlessly, completely ignoring the pathetic tears. "Call in his corporate debts. I want him entirely bankrupt and destitute by the time this call ends."

"Understood, Boss," the voice replied smoothly. "He is entirely insolvent."

Marcus let out a horrific, high-pitched shriek of pure agony. He had beaten his wife to feel powerful, and in exactly sixty seconds, he had lost absolutely everything he ever owned.
