Chapter 6 - The Morning Blackout

The next morning, the bright American sun reflected off the towering glass windows of Adam’s corporate headquarters.

Adam strutted into the massive marble lobby of the skyscraper, wearing a fresh designer suit, sipping an expensive espresso. He was flying high on the adrenaline of publicly humiliating his older sister the night before.

He walked confidently up to the VIP executive elevator and swiped his black keycard.

BEEP. ACCESS DENIED.

Adam frowned in annoyance. He swiped it again, harder.

BEEP. ACCESS DENIED.

"Hey! Security!" Adam snapped aggressively, waving his hand at the front desk. "Fix this elevator! My CEO card isn't working, and I have a board meeting in ten minutes!"

The head security guard walked over slowly. He didn't look at Adam with respect. He looked at him with profound, uncomfortable pity.

"Mr. Mercer," the guard said quietly. "Your keycard was officially deactivated at 6:00 AM this morning by the primary shareholder's legal team. You are no longer authorized to access the executive floors."

Adam physically staggered backward, his espresso splashing onto his expensive leather shoes.

"What are you talking about?!" Adam roared, his arrogant facade completely shattering. "I am the CEO! I own this building! Let me up there right now, or you are entirely fired!"

👉 Adam forced his way into a service elevator, desperately rushing toward a boardroom that was no longer his.
