Chapter 1 - The Bakery Encounter

The small, elegant American bakery was filled with the sweet, buttery scent of fresh pastries and warm, golden lighting reflecting off the pristine marble floor. It was a place designed for quiet morning routines, not catastrophic reunions.

Naomi, a woman in her early thirties, knelt beside a double stroller near the gleaming pastry display case. She looked exhausted, her messy brown hair tied into a loose bun. She wore a worn beige trench coat over a simple white ribbed shirt and faded jeans. In her palm, she was desperately, frantically counting a small handful of coins.

Sitting in the stroller were Eli and Theo, her four-year-old identical twin boys. They were beautiful children with dark, unruly curly hair, wearing matching navy hoodies and beige pants.

Right behind her, the heavy glass door of the bakery swung open.

Preston, a breathtakingly handsome billionaire in his late thirties, stepped into the shop. He wore a sharp, custom-tailored charcoal suit and a perfectly tied dark tie. He had come in for a simple espresso before a massive corporate merger.

But the absolute second Preston looked at the woman kneeling by the stroller, he froze in sheer, unadulterated shock. It was Naomi. His ex-wife. The woman he had ruthlessly divorced and thrown out of his mansion five years ago.

Theo, completely unaware of the towering billionaire standing behind them, pointed a small finger at the display case.

👉 Preston stared at the small boy, entirely unprepared for the heartbreaking confession he was about to hear.
