Chapter 2 - The Cab Ride of Betrayal

Victoria did not look back. Her designer heels clicked a sharp, rhythmic tempo against the polished airport tiles, matching the furious hammering of her heart.

The shock was rapidly evaporating, leaving behind a cold, calculating, and absolute rage. She stepped out into the bright sunlight of the passenger pickup zone and slid into the back of a waiting black cab. As the door slammed shut, her phone immediately lit up with a barrage of text messages.

Julian’s name flashed on the screen.

“Stop being dramatic, Victoria. Sina just went through a bad breakup. She needs a vacation. Come back to the gate right now. You’re embarrassing me.”

Victoria stared at the glowing screen. There was no apology. There was no remorse. He genuinely believed that bringing his "work best friend" on their honeymoon was an acceptable reality she would eventually just bow down to. The sheer, suffocating arrogance of the man she had married just two months ago was staggering.

She didn't reply. She didn't block his number either. She needed him to board that flight. She needed him thousands of miles away over the Pacific Ocean so she could execute her next move without interruption.

Victoria leaned her head back against the cool leather seat of the cab, taking a slow, deep breath to steady her natural breathing. The tears she had been fighting back completely dried up.
