Chapter 6 - The Declined Card

The tropical sun beat down on the crystal-clear waters of Bora Bora. The ultra-luxury resort lobby was a masterpiece of open-air Polynesian architecture, smelling of fresh orchids and expensive sea salt.
Julian leaned casually against the mahogany front desk, looking incredibly smug in his designer sunglasses. Sina stood beside him, her blonde hair blowing in the island breeze, already demanding the keys to the massive overwater presidential suite.
"Card on file, sir?" the polite concierge asked with a warm smile.
Julian smoothly pulled his heavy black credit card from his wallet and handed it over. The concierge swiped the card.
The machine beeped with a harsh, glaring red light. Declined.
Julian frowned, his arrogant smirk faltering slightly. "Run it again. The chip might be dirty. That account has unlimited clearance."
The concierge swiped it again. Declined. Account Frozen.
"I apologize, sir, but the issuer has placed a hard fraud lock on this card," the concierge explained, his customer service smile tightening. "Do you have another form of payment? The suite requires a twenty-thousand-dollar incidentals deposit."
Julian scoffed in annoyance, pulling out his personal debit card linked to the offshore account where he had stashed Victoria's eighty thousand dollars. He handed it over confidently.
The concierge swiped it. Declined. Seized by Federal Injunction.

Sina let out an irritated sigh. "Julian, what is going on? Just pay the man so we can get to the pool! I want my champagne!"
👉 Julian began to sweat under his expensive clothes, entirely unaware that the financial guillotine had already dropped.
