Chapter 7 - The Desperate Call

Panic aggressively hijacked Julian’s nervous system. He handed over three more credit cards. Every single one flashed the exact same terrifying red Declined error.
"Sir, if you cannot provide a valid method of payment, I must ask you to step aside," the concierge stated, signaling for the resort's security detail. "We will have to cancel your reservation entirely."
"Wait! Let me make a phone call!" Julian stammered, pulling out his smartphone. His hands were shaking violently as he dialed Victoria's number.
Back in Chicago, Victoria was sitting on her velvet couch, casually sipping a glass of red wine. Her phone rang. She let it ring four times before answering.
"Victoria! What the hell did you do to my accounts?!" Julian screamed into the phone, completely abandoning his suave, arrogant persona.
"I reported eighty thousand dollars stolen," Victoria replied, her voice completely calm, restrained, and echoing with cinematic realism. "The fraud department immediately locked your social security number and reversed the wire transfer back to my trust."
"You can't do this to me!" Julian shrieked, the reality of his doom finally sinking in. In the background, Sina was screaming at the concierge as the security guards began escorting them out of the lobby. "We're stranded! We don't have a place to stay! We don't even have money for food!"
"Then you better start swimming," Victoria stated coldly.
