Chapter 8 - The Humiliated Return

Three grueling, agonizing days later, the automatic doors of the luxury Chicago condo building slid open.
Julian and Sina dragged their heavy designer luggage into the marble lobby. They looked absolutely destroyed. Without access to Victoria's money, Julian had been forced to beg Sina's parents for an emergency loan just to buy two cramped, middle-seat economy tickets back to the United States.
Sina’s blonde hair was a greasy, chaotic mess. Julian’s medium blue suit was wrinkled and stained with sweat. The smug, untouchable couple had been reduced to exhausted, humiliated beggars.
"I'm going to make her pay for this," Julian growled viciously, his dark eyes burning with toxic anger. "She thinks she can lock my accounts? I'm going to walk upstairs, pack all of her expensive jewelry, and sell it to cover the lawyer fees to take half this building from her."
Julian stormed toward the private elevators, completely blinded by his own narcissistic rage. He rode the elevator to the penthouse floor and marched directly up to the heavy mahogany doors of their condo.
He aggressively shoved his gold key into the lock and twisted.
The key didn't turn.

Julian frowned. He pulled the key out and shoved it in harder, violently jiggling the handle. The deadbolt refused to budge. The locks hadn't just been changed; a heavy, industrial secondary security plate had been installed over the frame.
👉 Julian furiously banged his fists against the mahogany door, completely unaware that the real confrontation was waiting for him downstairs.
