Chapter 2 - The Staged Accident

To understand the absolute, bone-chilling terror currently freezing the blood in Grant's veins, one had to look back exactly three hours to the "accident."

Claire wasn't just a wealthy housewife. She was the brilliant, meticulous founder of a massive, heavily encrypted cybersecurity firm. Grant, on the other hand, was a charismatic, lazy mid-level executive who had married her purely for her immense fifty-million-dollar net worth.

For the last eight months, Grant had been having a reckless, expensive affair with Tessa, his bold blonde mistress in the red dress. But a simple divorce wasn't enough for Grant. If he divorced Claire, the ironclad prenuptial agreement guaranteed he would walk away with absolutely nothing.

He wanted the entire fifty million.

Three hours ago, Claire had been driving her luxury SUV down a steep, winding canyon road. The brakes had completely failed. The vehicle had violently smashed into a concrete guardrail, leaving her trapped inside until the paramedics arrived.

Grant had rushed to the hospital with Tessa, completely convinced that Claire was either going to die in surgery or be left permanently incapacitated. He had already called his lawyers to draft the emergency medical conservatorship paperwork that would give him total control of her massive corporate empire.

He thought he had committed the absolute perfect crime.

He had no idea that he had just tried to murder an apex predator.

👉 Grant desperately turned back toward his mistress, completely blind to the trap that was already snapping shut around him.
