Chapter 4 - The Digital Ghost

While Grant was pacing the waiting room, desperately trying to contact his corporate lawyers, a massive, invisible digital earthquake was violently ripping through his life.

Claire was indeed inside the operating room, but she wasn't dying. She had suffered a broken arm, a minor concussion, and a few bruised ribs. The frantic rushing of the paramedics had been entirely precautionary.

As the doctors set her broken arm, Claire lay on the operating table with a small, heavily encrypted tablet resting on her stomach. Her lead security director had slipped it to her the second she arrived in the ambulance bay.

Claire wasn't hallucinating. She was actively, aggressively hunting.

Because she was a cybersecurity titan, Claire had installed a microscopic, military-grade hidden camera inside the dashboard of her luxury SUV three months ago. She hadn't suspected Grant of murder; she had simply wanted to catch him bringing his mistress into her car.

But when she pulled up the cloud backup of the dashboard camera from the night before the crash, the cinematic realism of the footage made her blood run absolutely ice cold.

The high-definition night vision clearly showed Grant sneaking into their dark garage at 2:00 AM. He was wearing black gloves and holding a heavy pair of industrial wire cutters. He slid directly underneath her vehicle and systematically sliced through the primary and secondary brake lines. Standing directly behind him, holding a flashlight and wearing the exact same red evening gown she had on right now, was Tessa.
