Chapter 6 - The Federal Warrants
"I can explain!" Derek wept pathetically over the speakerphone, realizing his entire, massive federal treason plot had just been completely annihilated by his wife coming home early. "The cartel offered me five million dollars, Hannah! We could have been rich! Just close the door and let me get rid of it!"
Hannah felt absolutely zero human empathy for the traitorous monster crying on the phone.
"You stole from my unit," Hannah whispered lethally, her eyes burning with demonic, calculating wrath. "You endangered our daughter to hide illegal weapons."
She didn't negotiate. She looked at Officer Bell.
"Trace the call," Hannah commanded the officer.
Officer Bell immediately raised his radio. "Dispatch, we need an immediate trace on an active cell signal, and I need the FBI and ATF down here right now. We have a massive cache of stolen military ordnance."
"Hannah, please!" Derek shrieked like a feral banshee. "I'm at the airport! I'm trying to leave! Don't let them take me!"
Hannah calmly picked up the phone.
"They aren't going to take you, Derek," Hannah stated flawlessly, completely bypassing her husband's panic. "The military police are. You just committed high treason."
