Chapter 7 - The Arrest

Miles away, in the crowded terminal of the international airport, Derek scrambled frantically toward his gate, sweating profusely in his expensive jacket. He realized he had exactly ten minutes to flee the country before the feds locked down his passport.

But he never made it to the plane.

Suddenly, the heavy glass doors of the terminal were violently pushed open. A dozen heavily armed federal agents and military police officers swarmed the concourse, moving with blinding, lethal speed.

"Derek Vance!" a federal agent roared, raising his weapon.

Derek froze, the color violently draining from his face. He aggressively reached into his jacket, desperately trying to pull a weapon, but the military police tackled him violently to the hard floor, pinning him down instantly.

The cold steel handcuffs clicked loudly around his wrists, snapping the arrogant, treasonous coward back into the horrific reality of his crimes. His desperate, pathetic cries for mercy faded into the crowded airport, ending his reign of toxic greed and betrayal forever. He was going to face life in a federal military prison.

Back at the house, the chaotic, heavy energy completely evaporated from the kitchen.

Officer Bell secured the basement, leaving Hannah alone with her daughter.

Hannah knelt back down on the dirty floor. She gently picked Lily up, completely ignoring the grime on the little girl's pajamas.
