Chapter 2 - The Defiant Wife

Nora’s mind reeled in absolute shock. The vintage emerald ring wasn't a gift from Dominic. It wasn't bought with his billionaire fortune. It was her late grandmother’s heirloom—the only physical memory she had left of her family.
A tight, cinematic close-up captured Nora’s face. The tear-stained, heartbroken wife violently vanished. A fierce, defiant protector fully awakened.
She stepped forward, her emerald silk gown swishing against the marble. She reached out desperately to take her grandmother's ring back from the bodyguard.
"Let go of me," Nora ordered firmly, her voice echoing clearly across the dead-silent ballroom.
But Dominic moved with terrifying, explosive speed. He immediately grabbed her wrist with crushing, bone-bruising force, yanking her violently backward.
Nora lost her balance. She crashed hard onto the polished marble floor right next to a spilled glass of red wine. The dark red liquid pooled around the fabric of her expensive gown like a cinematic crime scene. She gasped, holding her bright red, slapped cheek in sheer, paralyzing shock.
Dominic stood towering over her, looking down at his wife with absolute apathy.
He casually adjusted the cuff of his black tuxedo, completely unbothered by the fact that he had just assaulted his wife in front of two hundred people.
