Chapter 3 - The First Love

Nora remained collapsed on the marble floor. She didn't scream. She didn't dissolve into hysterical sobs. Instead, a profound, chilling silence washed over her entire body.
She stared up at the man she had married, realizing she didn't know the monster standing in front of her.
Suddenly, a woman stepped out from behind Dominic’s broad shoulders.
It was Isabeau. She was a stunningly attractive blonde woman in her late twenties, blatantly disrespecting the formal dress code by wearing a glittering gold sequined evening gown with a scandalous high slit.
Isabeau wasn't just a guest. She was Dominic’s first love—the woman who had broken his heart a decade ago to marry a richer man in Europe. But now, she was divorced, broke, and back in Chicago, sinking her manicured claws right back into Dominic.
Isabeau clung possessively to Dominic's tuxedo arm, leaning her chin casually against his shoulder.
A tight close-up captured Isabeau looking down at Nora on the floor. Her facial micro-expressions violently shifted from fake innocence into a cruel, victorious, demonic smirk.
Isabeau slipped the vintage emerald ring onto her own finger, holding it up to admire it in the chandelier lighting.
