Chapter 10 - The Ultimate Price

Dominic stared at the certified check, the absolute, horrifying reality completely destroying his mind.
He couldn't buy me back. He couldn't threaten me. I had completely leveled the playing field, stripping him of every single ounce of leverage he had ever held over my life.

With shaking hands, the most powerful, terrifying mafia boss in Chicago picked up a pen and signed his name on the divorce decree, completely surrendering his claim to my soul.
I stood up, took the paperwork, and walked out of the room. I didn't look back.

I walked out into the bright Chicago sunlight, where my younger brother Noah was waiting for me by a waiting car. I hugged him tightly, breathing in the fresh air of absolute, uncorrupted freedom. Dominic Russo was left in the dark with his bloody empire, permanently haunted by the memory of the red dress he could never touch again.
If you were in my shoes, would you have ever given Dominic a second chance to prove his love, or was handing him the divorce papers the ultimate, perfect revenge?
