Chapter 5 - The Audio Tape

Before I could even pick up the flash drive, the heavy steel doors of Adrian’s office violently shuddered.

BANG.

Dominic had bypassed the security wall. A deafening explosion of gunfire echoed from the hallway as Dominic’s elite enforcers breached the second floor. The steel doors were kicked open, completely ripping the hinges from the frame.

Dominic stormed into the office, his gun drawn and pointed directly at Adrian's chest. His black suit was dusted with plaster, his eyes burning with absolute, demonic fury.

"Step away from my wife," Dominic roared, his finger tightening on the trigger.

I didn't scream. I didn't cower behind Adrian.

I picked up the black flash drive, plugged it seamlessly into Adrian's laptop on the desk, and hit the play button on the media file.

The tense, violent silence in the office was suddenly broken by a scratchy, digital audio recording.

"The drop happens at midnight," a voice echoed through the laptop speakers. "Make sure the old man doesn't survive the raid. And plant the burner phone in the gambler's car. The son will blame him, and I'll take the remaining territory."

Dominic completely froze. His gun remained raised, but his hands began to shake violently.

He knew that voice. It wasn't my father. It was his Uncle Silas, orchestrating the exact hit that had murdered the former boss of the Chicago syndicate.

I walked around the desk, standing directly in the barrel line of Dominic's weapon, wearing the red dress he told me to burn.

"You spent eight months punishing me for a sin my family didn't commit," I whispered coldly.

👉 Dominic’s terrifying mafia facade violently collapsed, and he was about to realize exactly what he had thrown away.
