Chapter 2 - The Lion's Den

The cinematic tension in the lavish ballroom instantly spiked to an apocalyptic level.

Standing in the doorway, breathing heavily, was Dominic. His tailored black suit jacket was pushed back as his hands rested aggressively on his hips, hovering inches from his concealed weapons. He had tracked my phone. His dark eyes locked onto the red silk dress clinging to my body, and a flash of pure, unadulterated, possessive rage crossed his hardened face.

He didn't care that he was standing in the middle of a rival syndicate's headquarters. He marched directly toward me, the crowd of wealthy criminals parting like the Red Sea in sheer terror.

Dominic reached out, his heavy hand clamping down on my bare arm with a crushing grip.

"You are leaving," Dominic commanded, his voice a low, demonic whisper vibrating with absolute authority. "Right now."

I didn't flinch. I didn't scramble backward. I looked directly into his furious, pitch-black eyes with a calm, freezing indifference that made him physically hesitate.

"Let go of me, Dominic," I said softly.

Before he could forcefully drag me toward the exit, a tall, elegantly dressed man stepped seamlessly between us. Adrian Cross smiled, swirling the amber liquid in his glass.

"You're a guest in my home, Russo," Adrian purred, his voice dripping with toxic amusement. "And in my home, we don't put our hands on women who clearly don't want to be touched."

Dominic’s jaw locked. His elite bodyguards immediately stepped into the room, their hands resting on their holsters. Adrian’s heavily armed men mirrored the movement. The entire ballroom was one wrong breath away from an absolute bloodbath.

"She is my wife," Dominic growled, tightening his grip on my arm.

I looked down at his hand, then looked back up at his face.

👉 Dominic thought I would quietly submit to save the room from violence, but I was about to officially end our marriage in front of his greatest enemy.
