Chapter 3 - The Twelve-Year Secret

A tight, cinematic close-up captured the subtle micro-expressions flashing across Paige’s face. Behind her calm, stoic eyes, a deeply traumatic memory violently resurfaced.

Twelve years ago, Paige had stood in the pouring rain outside her mother’s modest suburban home. She was nineteen years old, holding nothing but a black trash bag filled with her clothes.

She had just discovered a devastating secret. The fifty-thousand-dollar college trust fund her late grandmother had specifically left for her education was entirely gone. Diane and Mallory had secretly forged Paige’s signature, completely draining the account.

When a devastated, crying Paige confronted them, she discovered the horrifying truth: Diane had stolen her daughter's future to pay for Mallory’s lavish, extravagant dream wedding to Grant.

When Paige threatened to call the police, Diane didn't apologize. Instead, she fiercely protected her "favorite" twin. Diane packed Paige’s clothes in a garbage bag and threw her out the front door into the freezing rain.

Paige remembered her mother standing on the porch, looking down at her weeping, homeless nineteen-year-old daughter with absolute, cold disgust.

"You are a selfish, ungrateful brat," Diane had sneered twelve years ago. "You are not my responsibility anymore. Get off my property before I call the cops."
