Chapter 6 - The Aggressive Intruder

Grant’s casual, presumptuous smirk completely vanished. The reality that he was about to be homeless with his wife and kids finally crashed down on his toxic ego.

"Listen to me, you little brat," Grant growled, stepping aggressively toward the gate. He grabbed the thick black iron bars, shaking them violently, his face flushing red with unadulterated fury. "You are going to open this gate right now, or I am going to climb over it and open it myself!"

As soon as Grant’s hands gripped the metal and his voice raised in a threat, the atmosphere instantly shifted.

The two massive German Shepherds didn't bark. They didn't frantically jump. They simply stood up in perfect, terrifying unison. They stepped directly in front of Paige, lowering their heads, a deep, bone-rattling growl vibrating from their chests. They were highly trained personal protection dogs, and they were fully prepared to tear Grant apart the second his foot touched the top of the fence.

Grant immediately snatched his hands away from the iron bars, stumbling backward, his face turning pale with sudden, paralyzing fear.

"Call off your mutts!" Grant panicked, hiding behind his wife.

"They aren't mutts," Paige smiled, a cold, merciless, cinematic smile. "They are security. And they don't like trespassers. I suggest you step away from the perimeter before they perceive you as an active threat."

Diane was hyperventilating, realizing that intimidation wasn't going to work. She decided to play her final, dirtiest card.
