Chapter 3 - The Golden Child's Greed

Patricia walked into the kitchen right behind me, a smug, unapologetic smile plastered across her face.

“Lydia has her friends coming over to her apartment tonight,” Patricia announced casually, as if she were commenting on the weather. “She needs the good meat more than we do. You know she’s trying to launch her catering business.”

I stared at her in absolute disbelief.

“Fourteen pounds?” I asked, my voice trembling with suppressed anger. “You gave away fourteen pounds of meat that I spent four hundred dollars on?”

“Don't be dramatic, Seraphina,” Patricia scoffed, rolling her eyes. “There's plenty left in the pan.”

“For twenty people?” I fired back.

“Then make something else,” Patricia ordered dismissively. “Boil some pasta. Nobody cares what you eat.”

I looked at the clock on the wall. The twenty guests were scheduled to arrive in exactly thirty minutes.

The back door swung open, and Lydia walked in, dangling her car keys with a bright, greedy smile. “Thanks for cooking, Seraphina! My clients are going to absolutely love it!”

She was passing off my fourteen hours of labor as her own catered food to make a profit. And my mother-in-law had facilitated the entire theft.

I looked at Lydia. I looked at Patricia.

"I'm sure they will," I smiled smoothly.

Then I picked up the roasting pan, walked directly to the garbage disposal, and dumped the remaining four pounds of expensive ribs straight into the trash.

👉 Patricia slapped me for ruining her dinner, but the husband who demanded I apologize was about to face a brutal reckoning.
