Chapter 7 - The Delusion of Ownership

A collective, confused murmur rippled through the wealthy relatives as they read the glowing documents on the screen.
Garrison’s face drained of all color. He lunged forward, desperately trying to grab the remote from my hand. "Turn that off! Are you insane?!"
I took a smooth step back, keeping the remote out of his reach.
"Patricia made a catastrophic mistake today," I said, looking directly at my furious mother-in-law. "She slapped me in my house, because she genuinely believes this house belongs to her son."
Patricia scoffed, crossing her arms defensively. "It is his house! He pays the mortgage! He's the man of the family!"
"He pays absolutely nothing," I corrected coldly. I tapped my phone, and the screen switched to the official, notarized county deed.
The name on the deed wasn't Garrison's. It wasn't even mine.
"The sole, legal owner of this property is a private corporation named Seraphina Holdings LLC," I announced flawlessly. "A corporation that I founded, fund, and control entirely on my own. Garrison’s name is not on the deed. It is not on the mortgage. He is nothing but a permanent guest who sleeps in my bed."
The relatives gasped in absolute shock. The illusion of Garrison's massive success shattered into a million pieces right in front of their eyes.
