Chapter 1 - The Three Wishes

The grand dining room of the luxury mansion was dead silent.
During a quiet memorial dinner, Vincent Moretti, the legendary and immensely powerful mafia boss, sat at the head of the long mahogany table. Tall, ruggedly handsome, and frighteningly calm, he wore a perfectly tailored black suit that barely concealed the dark syndicate tattoos on his skin.
He reached into his pocket and placed three small, heavy gold coins onto the cold marble table directly in front of a three-year-old girl.
"Three wishes," Vincent said gently, his deep voice softening. "Anything you want."
Ellie, wearing a colorful pastel party dress, completely ignored the expensive imported toys scattered around her. She hugged her worn, one-eyed teddy bear tightly to her chest. Instead of looking at the gold, her innocent, observant eyes shifted toward her mother standing near the wall.
Clara, a beautiful but exhausted thirty-year-old woman in a neat black-and-white maid uniform, was physically trembling. She was nervous, overworked, and unusually quick to apologize for simply breathing the wrong way.
"Why does Mommy have to say sorry when she didn’t do it?" Ellie asked innocently.
Vincent’s relaxed expression instantly changed. The terrifying apex predator in his eyes awakened.
Clara immediately became frightened, her face paling in sheer panic. "I’m sorry, Mr. Moretti," she stammered desperately, bowing her head.
Standing nearby, Dante—Vincent’s calculating, forty-year-old younger brother—gave a dismissive, arrogant smile. He wore an expensive navy suit and a luxury watch, projecting a toxic, unearned authority. He noticed Clara’s violently trembling hands.
"Take the girl downstairs," Dante snapped sharply, his voice dripping with condescension. Clara visibly flinched at the sound of his command.
Vincent didn't hesitate. He stepped smoothly between Dante and the terrified maid, blocking his brother's path entirely. He crouched beside the little girl and slid the second gold coin toward her small fingers.
"No one takes Ellie anywhere," Vincent stated calmly, his tone an absolute, lethal warning. "What’s your second wish?"
Ellie clutched the second coin. She raised her tiny hand and pointed directly at Dante.
"I want Mommy to tell you what Uncle Dante makes her hide," Ellie said quietly.
