Chapter 9 - The Fall of the Queen

Sarah didn't wait for David to finish speaking. Survival instinct completely overrode her fake elegance. She spun around on her expensive heels and sprinted frantically down the hallway, desperately trying to reach the front door and escape into the night.
She didn't even make it ten feet.
David moved with explosive, terrifying speed. He caught up to her instantly, his large hand gripping the back of her beige blouse and violently hurling her backward. Sarah crashed hard into the opposite wall, gasping for air as David pinned her by the shoulders, completely trapping her.
He didn't strike her. He just pulled out his phone and dialed 911, his dark eyes burning holes through her skull.
Ten minutes later, the grand estate was swarming with flashing red and blue police lights.
The elite, high-society neighbors watched in absolute shock through their windows as Sarah was violently dragged out of the mansion’s front doors. Her beige blouse was wrinkled, her hair was a mess, and heavy steel handcuffs were locked tightly around her wrists. She kicked and screamed, crying hysterically as the officers shoved her into the back of a squad car, her perfect, wealthy life completely reduced to ashes in a matter of minutes.
