Chapter 5 - Margaret’s Handbag Held a Second Medical Log

Margaret did not trust the household medication chart anymore.

So she made her own.

Dates.

Times.

Symptoms.

Treatments.

Who was present.

Whether medication had already been used.

She kept it inside her handbag.

Two weeks before the wedding, the two logs stopped matching.

The household chart said Mireya received her preventive nebulizer treatment at 7:00 a.m.

Margaret had arrived at 7:15 and found the equipment dry.

Another day, Tove recorded a completed afternoon treatment.

Mireya later told Margaret in simple toddler language:

“Tove said no mask.”

That could have been misunderstanding.

Then Margaret checked the medication count.

The numbers were wrong.

Not dramatically.

Just enough to suggest some doses recorded as given had never actually been administered.

Margaret called the pulmonologist.

He advised her not to accuse anyone based solely on a home log.

Document.

Preserve records.

Make sure Mireya received treatment.

And tell Cullen.

Margaret planned to do exactly that after the wedding ceremony.

The supporting documents were inside the handbag Tove tried to steal beside the reflecting pool.
