Chapter 6 - Tove Had Already Found Out Margaret Was Keeping Records
The night before the wedding, Margaret left her handbag in the guest room while helping Mireya change.
When she returned, the zipper was open.
Nothing obvious was missing.
But the medical log had been moved.
Margaret asked Tove directly.
“Were you in my bag?”
Tove smiled.
“Why would I be?”
“You tell me.”
Tove’s eyes dropped briefly toward the notebook.
That was enough.
Margaret removed the originals.
She photographed every page.
Then she placed copies inside the handbag instead.
The following morning she also picked up a sealed letter from Mireya’s pulmonologist summarizing recent medication discrepancies and recommending that only designated caregivers administer treatment until the issue was resolved.
That letter went into the same bag.
Tove did not know Margaret had copies elsewhere.
She only knew the handbag contained material capable of destroying the “Mireya is faking” narrative.
So when Cullen protected his daughter and Chase went down—
Tove grabbed the bag.
Not jewelry.
Not money.
