Chapter 6 - The Ring Had Been Removed From The Vault Using Cole’s Access

Bank records were much less emotional than family memories.
That made them useful.
Cole had entered the vault fourteen months earlier.
Legitimate reason listed:
Insurance inventory review.
He spent twenty-seven minutes inside.
No employee entered the private viewing room with him because customers were allowed to inspect boxes privately.
When the box returned to storage, no one checked each item against our inventory.
That was normal.
The bank’s job was to protect the box.
Not audit its contents.
Three weeks after that visit, Elena was photographed at a charity dinner wearing Laura’s sapphire pendant.
Nobody noticed.
Four months later, she wore the antique earrings at a wedding.
Again, nobody noticed.
Why would we?
People assume jewelry belongs to the person wearing it.
Mia noticed the ring because she had spent years looking at her mother’s pictures.
The rest of us saw diamonds.
May you like
She saw history.
