The missing jewelry had not all remained with Elena.
Five pieces had been sold.
Two pawned.
One used as collateral for a private loan.
Cole’s finances explained why.
He had invested heavily in a boutique development project in Arizona.
The project stalled.
Construction costs rose.
A partner disappeared with capital.
Cole personally guaranteed several obligations.
By the time he accessed Laura’s jewelry box, he owed nearly $600,000.
He told himself he was borrowing.
That became clear from messages between him and Elena.
Once Mesa closes, we replace everything.
Victor never checks the vault.
