Chapter 2 - The Crayon Evidence

The cinematic tension in the grand dining room was completely paralyzing.

Victor stiffened in the background, his dark eyes instantly locking onto the little girl. A muscle feathered in his strong jaw.

Alessandro slowly lowered his hand, dropping the white pill back onto the polished marble table. He wasn't angry. He frowned, deeply confused by the little girl's sudden, absolute certainty. He adored his niece, and she was usually terrified of interrupting his business.

"What makes you say that, Sophia?" Alessandro asked sharply, his highly observant mind immediately picking up on her panic.

Sophia didn't speak. She let go of his wrist and reached into the small pocket of her pale blue dress.

She pulled out a crumpled piece of white paper. It was a messy, colorful child's crayon drawing.

A medium shot captured the exact composition: Alessandro sat at the head of the table, leaning forward to examine the drawing, while Sophia stood beside him, pointing her tiny finger at the paper to explain. Victor stood perfectly still in the background, holding his breath.

The drawing showed two distinct medicine bottles. One bottle was colored orange with a white cap. The other bottle was drawn in dark red crayon with a black cap.

Sophia pointed to the red bottle.

"Mr. Victor had your bottle," Sophia whispered softly, her eyes darting nervously toward the towering bodyguard. "But he switched the pills with the red bottle."
