Chapter 5 - The Stolen Wife

"Sophia," Alessandro choked out, his voice cracking with sheer, unadulterated devastation. "Where did you see this woman?"
Sophia pointed her tiny finger directly at Victor.
"She is in Mr. Victor's basement," Sophia answered innocently. "I saw her through the little window when I was playing in his garden yesterday. She was crying. She told me to tell you she was alive."
The entire dining room went breathlessly, terrifyingly silent.
The cinematic realization hit Alessandro with the force of a nuclear bomb. Clara hadn't died in a car crash. Victor had staged the explosion, kidnapped the boss's wife, and locked her in his own basement for three agonizing years. And now, Victor was slowly poisoning Alessandro to seize total control of the syndicate.
Victor aggressively reached inside his navy blue suit jacket, desperately trying to pull a heavy handgun to shoot his way out of the mansion.
But Alessandro moved with explosive, blinding, cinematic speed.
Before Victor could even clear the holster, Alessandro vaulted entirely over the black marble table. He violently tackled the massive bodyguard to the floor, disarming the heavy handgun in a fraction of a second. Alessandro grabbed Victor by the throat and slammed his head brutally against the marble tile.
