Chapter 3 - The Secret in the Closet

A tight, cinematic close-up captured Lily’s face.
She looked up at the towering, terrifying crime boss. She wasn't afraid of him. She was entirely consumed by the massive, genuine terror of what she had just left behind in her bedroom. Her massive blue eyes were wide with pure panic.
She took a shaky step closer to the mafia king, pulling the white pillow tighter against her chest as a shield.
"Someone is hiding in my closet," Lily whispered, her voice a breathless, completely terrified echo in the silent hallway.
Dominic froze completely.
The blood instantly, violently drained from his handsome face. He wasn't humoring a child's nightmare. He wasn't going to tell her that monsters weren't real.
His highly tactical, brilliant mind was desperately doing the math. The guest wing, where the maid and her daughter were temporarily sleeping while their apartment was renovated, had extremely unique, highly classified architectural blueprints.
The only "closet" in Lily's specific bedroom didn't just hold coats. It connected directly to Dominic's own private, highly classified underground escape passage—a heavily armored tunnel designed to evacuate the boss during a massive cartel siege.
Only two people in the entire world had the security codes to open that specific tunnel. Him, and his Chief of Security.
