Chapter 10 - The Bloodline Restored

Mara was still standing near the edge of the room, her hands trembling as she held the sleeping infant against her pale-yellow dress. She had just witnessed the absolute, terrifying destruction of a billionaire's enemies. She expected Dominic to take his son and send her back to the kitchen.
Dominic walked slowly toward her.
The cold, intimidating executioner completely vanished. He looked exhausted, vulnerable, and his dark eyes were filled with a profound, overwhelming love.
He didn't look at her like a waitress. He looked at her like family.
Dominic dropped to his knees right on the marble floor, completely ignoring his expensive suit. He gently wrapped his massive, tattooed arms around both Mara and the sleeping baby, burying his face against Mara’s shoulder. The most feared man in New York openly wept.
"I am so sorry I wasn't there to protect you and your mother," Dominic choked out, tears staining his sharp jawline. "You are never going to suffer again, Mara."
Mara slowly lowered her guard, crying softly as she rested her chin on her uncle's broad shoulder.
Dominic stood up, gently wiping the tears from her delicate face.
"Your job as a waitress ended the second I saw that pendant," Dominic vowed, the absolute power of his massive wealth backing every syllable. "You are a Moretti. You are moving into the master wing of the estate tonight. I am setting up a hundred-million-dollar trust in your name, and you will have full authority over my household to protect your baby cousin. You are no longer the hired help. You are home."
Tears of pure, unadulterated relief and joy spilled down Mara’s cheeks.
