Chapter 7 - The Poisoned Bottle

"I... I can't drink baby formula, Dominic, I'm lactose intolerant!" Camilla wept hysterically, physically swatting the bottle away from his heavily tattooed hand.
The bottle hit the marble floor, spilling the white liquid across the tiles. It immediately began to bubble and hiss, a potent, odorless chemical acid eating through the expensive floor finish.
The cinematic realism of the absolute, crushing evil in the room paralyzed everyone.
Camilla hadn't just been arrogant and cruel. She had intentionally laced baby Nico’s bottle with a lethal, untraceable cardiac toxin. She had planned to watch the infant die in Dominic's arms tonight, pretending to be a grieving mother, so she could eventually inherit the entire multi-billion-dollar syndicate alongside the traitorous bodyguard.
Mara let out a horrified gasp, clutching Nico even tighter to her chest, shielding him from the monsters in the room.
Camilla dropped to her knees, completely abandoning her high-society elegance.
"Dominic, please!" Camilla wailed, crawling across the floor toward his polished black leather shoes. "Marco forced me to do it! He said he would kill my family if I didn't help him! I love you!"
"You love my money," Dominic corrected softly, entirely immune to her fake tears.
He didn't pull his weapon. A quick bullet in a luxury restaurant was far too generous for a woman who tried to murder his infant son.
