Chapter 4 - The Bodyguard's Panic

"Shoot her, Marco!" Camilla shrieked hysterically from the table, perfectly willing to watch a waitress die to protect her own dinner party.

Marco’s finger squeezed the trigger, fully intending to blow Mara’s head off while she was holding the boss’s infant son.

It was the absolute worst mistake of his life.

Dominic moved with blinding, terrifying speed. The apex predator didn't hesitate for a microsecond. Dominic lunged forward, his tattooed hand striking Marco’s wrist with bone-crushing force. The pistol fired a single silenced shot into the ceiling before clattering violently against the marble floor.

Dominic grabbed Marco by the throat of his fitted black suit, lifting the muscular forty-year-old bodyguard off his feet, and violently slammed him back-first onto the mahogany dining table, shattering Camilla’s crystal wine glasses.

"You drew a weapon on my son!" Dominic roared, his pitch-black eyes devoid of any human mercy.

The other five bodyguards immediately drew their weapons, pointing them directly at Marco, waiting for Dominic’s command.

"Boss, she's an assassin!" Marco choked out, blood spilling from his lip as he struggled against Dominic’s iron grip. "The pendant is a fake! Elena died twenty-five years ago! I saw the car burn!"

Dominic leaned in close, his sharp jawline locked in pure, demonic fury.

"You saw the car burn," Dominic whispered dangerously. "But I never told you Elena was in that car, Marco. I told the family she was taken from her bed."
