Chapter 5 - The Financial Parasite

Two massive guards immediately stepped forward, grabbing the weeping, thrashing Cassandra by the arms.

"No! Wait! Let me get my things!" Cassandra screamed as they hauled her violently toward the heavy mahogany front doors. "I have expensive clothes upstairs! You can't throw me out with nothing!"

"You leave with exactly what you are wearing," Gabriel stated coldly, turning his back on her.

The heavy doors slammed shut, cutting off her pathetic, hysterical cries and ending her reign of psychological cruelty forever.

The party was immediately cancelled. The wealthy guests quietly and quickly filed out of the mansion, terrified of lingering in the presence of the enraged mafia boss.

An hour later, the grand hall was empty.

Gabriel sat alone in his private home office, the broken gold locket resting on his mahogany desk. He opened his encrypted laptop to sever Cassandra's access to his secondary bank accounts.

But as he logged into the financial mainframe, a massive red flag popped up on the screen.

Gabriel frowned, his tactical mind instantly analyzing the data.

Over the last four months, Cassandra hadn't just been playing house. She had quietly siphoned over half a million dollars from the estate's operating funds. She had forged Gabriel's signature to authorize massive wire transfers, routing the money into a series of offshore shell companies registered under her maiden name in the Cayman Islands.

She was bleeding him dry while psychologically torturing his child.

Gabriel pulled up her background check—the one he had foolishly trusted a corrupt private investigator to run a year ago. He ran the name of the offshore company through the syndicate's underground intelligence network.
