Chapter 6 - The Rival's Pawn

Cassandra wasn't just a gold-digger. She was a professional corporate spy planted by the Barone family—Gabriel’s most violent, ruthless rivals in the city.
The intelligence file revealed that the Barones had paid Cassandra to seduce Gabriel, infiltrate his heavily guarded mansion, and slowly siphon funds to weaken his organization. Her ultimate goal was to convince Gabriel to send Lily away to a remote boarding school in Europe, completely isolating the mafia boss so the Barones could stage a violent coup and execute him in his own home.
She hadn't stepped on the locket because she was a jealous stepmother. She did it to deliberately break Lily’s spirit, trying to force the child to beg to leave the estate.
Gabriel sat perfectly still in the dark office.
The sheer, evil magnitude of the betrayal hit him like a physical blow. He had invited an assassin into his home. He had let a monster sleep in his bed and eat at his table, entirely blind to the danger surrounding his only daughter.
Gabriel didn't scream. The shock instantly evaporated, replaced by a cold, demonic, and utterly terrifying wrath.
He picked up his encrypted phone and dialed his fiercely loyal second-in-command.
"Track Cassandra's phone," Gabriel ordered smoothly. "Find out where my guards dumped her. Do not let her leave the city. And prep the strike team. We are paying the Barone family a visit tonight."
Gabriel hung up the phone. A cold, merciless smile touched his lips.
