Chapter 6 - The Man in the Dirt

"I said grab her!" Vanessa shrieked as the guards hesitated for a fraction of a second.
Before the men could lay a single hand on the brave housekeeper, a heavy, metallic CLANG echoed through the tense garden.
Everyone turned their heads.
Kneeling in the dirt by the blooming white and blue hydrangeas, entirely ignored by the elite guests all morning, was the estate’s elderly gardener. He was a hunched figure wearing dirty overalls, a thick gray beard, a worn-out cap pulled low over his eyes, and a pair of heavy gardening gloves.
He had just dropped his heavy steel pruning shears onto the stone pathway.
Slowly, deliberately, the gardener stood up from the dirt.
Vanessa glared at him, absolutely livid that a second member of the hired help was interrupting her glorious charity brunch. "What are you looking at, old man? Get back to the dirt where you belong before I fire you too!"
The gardener didn't answer. He didn't bow his head. He didn't rush back to the bushes.
Instead, he took a slow, heavy step onto the pristine stone terrace. Then another. And another. He walked directly toward the center of the crowd, his heavy boots leaving faint trails of garden soil on the expensive marble.

As he walked, his hunched, frail posture began to change. He stood taller. His incredibly broad shoulders straightened out, instantly transforming him from a fragile old man into a towering, terrifyingly massive figure.
👉 Vanessa was about to scream at the gardener, but the little girl in the blue dress noticed something that stopped everyone's heart.
