Chapter 8 - The Undercover King

Vanessa’s arrogant smile instantly collapsed.
The realization hit her like a runaway freight train, completely paralyzing her nervous system. Evan wasn't in Europe. He hadn't been on a business trip at all. The ruthless, terrifying mafia boss had been disguised as a lowly gardener, kneeling in the dirt all morning, watching her every single move.
He had seen her snatch the stuffed rabbit. He had seen her raise her hand to strike his seven-year-old daughter. He had watched her slap the housekeeper. He had heard every single disgusting, venomous word she said about throwing his children into a military academy.
"Ev... Evan..." Vanessa choked out, her voice a pathetic, high-pitched squeak.
A suffocating, absolute terror completely consumed her. Her knees buckled slightly, her hands trembling violently as she frantically touched her pearl necklace, desperately searching for a lie that could possibly save her life.
But there was no lie that could fix this. The proof was right in front of him.
The two security guards who had been about to grab Grace immediately backed away in sheer terror, lowering their heads and refusing to make eye contact with the boss.

Evan stepped forward into the bright sunlight. He didn't yell. He didn't raise his hand. The cinematic, restrained emotion on his handsome face was infinitely more terrifying than an explosive outburst. He possessed the quiet, terrifying calm of an apex predator completely cornering its prey.
👉 Vanessa was desperately trying to form an excuse, but the mafia boss's lethal response would shatter her entire reality.
