Chapter 10 - The True Mother

Grace stared at his large, calloused hand for a second before slowly reaching up.
Damian gripped her hand firmly, pulling her up from the floor with profound gentleness. He didn't let go. Instead, he pulled Grace securely against his side, tucking her closely under his right arm, right next to where Noah was resting on his chest.
Grace gasped softly, her cheek still burning, but a sudden, overwhelming wave of safety washed over her entire body.
Damian reached up with his thumb and incredibly softly brushed away a tear that had fallen near the red welt on Grace's cheek. He looked deep into her eyes, acknowledging the fierce, unbreakable maternal love she had shown his child when it mattered most.
The golden light of the Miami sunset perfectly framed the three of them standing together in the center of the penthouse.
"She called you a servant," Damian said, his voice cold, unwavering, and carrying the absolute weight of a king making a decree. He looked toward the elevator where Vanessa had vanished, delivering his chilling final sentence to the ghost of the woman he had just destroyed. "She is his mother now. And you are finished."

Grace let out a breathless, tearful smile, leaning her head against Damian's chest as little Noah reached over and grabbed her hand, their family finally whole and perfectly safe.
If you were Grace, would you have been terrified of Damian's mafia power, or would you have fallen in love with how fiercely he protected you?
